If you have been told to keep your head down and your left arm straight then you have got big problems! I know sounds crazy but trying to do these things restricts movement. If the head stays still (rather than turn) the body will tilt and cause a lift-ing action when hitting through the ball. If your left arm is too rigid going back the club will come out of the right hand and create a pulling action back to the ball usually resulting in an open face at impact causing a slice and no power so you use a lot of effort for a poor result. You need to turn around your right side going back so allow your head to turn slightly which will help this movement and soften the left arm and left hand grip. You need to hold the club in both hands to lift the club to the top of the swing and more importantly to be able to swing the clubhead weight back down into and through the ball. Your body will balance much better and the club will swing faster and freer which will give you a much better hit and more dis-tance. Still not too sure? Then get along to the weekly clinics for a swing assessment and find out how easy it is to hit the ball longer and straighter.
